Quick Overview

Tour de France bibs, designed to match our new Tour de France jersey, without getting too loud or flashy. Black is back in a big way, and these bibs are awesome!

The 2011 Tour de France Bib-short may be forgotten in the shadow of the super fancy Team Bodypaint Bib-short, but they probably shouldn't be. These are fantastic bib-shorts. While we love the Bodypaint bibs, these have become our everyday riding shorts. The chamois is good, following the KISS (keep it simple stupid) protocol. Having done a few 5 and 6 hour rides in these bibs, we're still trying to find their faults. Please take a minute to read our product review in the tabs above, and see the size chart below.

Technical Specifications:

3. Affinity Lycra? FABRIC provides outstanding stretch and rebound
4. Giro++ single-layer engineered gripper
5. Mesh straps for comfort and breathability
6. Made in El Salvador

NOTE: This review is fo the regular 2011 bib short, but the Tour de France bibshort is the identical material design! We've said it before, and we'll say it again: when you find a pair of bib-shorts that you like, you'll be a happy bike rider. We've already reviewed Castelli's high end bodypaint team bib shorts, but now that we've got the "aero bib" short in stock, we're happy to say that they are an awesome budget oriented bib short. There's no question that the bodypaint bibs are a better short, but at $119.99 the aero bib short is a good second option that sacrifices little in the way of comfort and a lot in the way of your pocket book!

In terms of features, the aero bib short has one of the best "leg gripper" designs that we've ever seen, without using a band of latex stitched onto the bottom of the short. The type of design Castelli uses avoids the common problem of not enough grip, which leads to shorts that "creep" upward on your leg. The last thing you want is a pair of bibs that end up looking like daisy dukes! The aero bib leg gripper keeps the short in place on your leg and also on leg or knee warmers.

When compared to the bodypaint bib, the aero bib also has a slightly different fit. In general the aero bib is slightly larger than the equivalent bodypaint bib short. Most notably, the bib straps themselves seem to be "taller" when compared to the bodypaint bibs. Bottom line: while you definitely need to size up for the bodypaint bibs, you may not need to go up one size for the aero bibs.

You can shop for the aero bib at the Official Garmin-Cervelo team shop. If you purchase a pair of bodypaint bib shorts from the team shop, and have any issues with fit, or decide that you don't like your purchase, we'll refund you in full or exchange them for another item of equal value.
