The new Giro Aeon is one of Giro's best offerings since the iconic Ionos was announced in 2006. The Aeon shaves weight where ever possible to hit an incredibly lightweight of around 220 grams. While Giro's prolight helmet is lighter at 180 grams, the Aeon retains the adjustability that the prolight lacks with the new Roc Loc 5 retention system. As a team, we've been fortunate to ride Giro helmets for almost 10 years. Giro is the industry standard in form and function when it comes to protecting your head on the bicycle. After spending a few weeks riding the new Giro Aeon, we think they have dramatically improved their already fantastic helmet designs. In our opinion, the Aeon is not a completely redesigned and new helmet, but instead a vastly improved version of Giro's hugely popular Ionos. If you loved the Ionos, you're going to be in heaven wearing the Aeon.

The Aeon has all the best features that the Ionos did (good fit, great airflow, great looks), but has lost nearly 100 grams in weight, and includes Giro's new Roc Loc 5 retention system. You might think that saving weight in your helmet isn't at all necessary, but we think you'll be surprised the first time you ride with the new Aeon. If you have any doubt that saving 100 grams in your helmet is worthwhile, go ahead and purchase this helmet from the official team shop. When you get it home, unpack it, adjust it properly to fit your head, then put your old helmet back on. Coupled with the weight savings in the Aeon, Giro has also vastly improved their Roc Loc retention system. The new Roc Loc 5 gives you the ability to adjust the fit both fore and aft, as well as increasing or reducing the helmets diameter to fit your head shape perfectly.
